Thankful Thursday

This week I am Thankful for.....

  • My Marriage.  Scott and I have been married over 9 years and it has flown by.  I am often amazed by how little we argue.
  • Razorback football season being over.  What looked to be an awesome season took a quick turn with BP's scandal and turned out to be a terrible season.
  • Great doctors and nurses.  Dr. Phillips has been with me since the beginning of our journey to have a child and to see how she and her nurse were soo excited when I came in for my 1st prenatal visit made my day.  They are always willing to listen to my questions and they treat me more like a friend than a chart.
  • My mother being one of my best friends.
I can't believe December is almost here.  It will be Christmas before I know it.  Happy Thursday!

Also, I just noticed this is my 200th post!  I can't believe I have kept with it this long.

Thankful Thursday

I am Thankful for......

  • Great neighbors.  Our new couch came in last Thursday and we didn't have a way to pick it up.  We ran over to the neighbors house to see if we could borrow the truck and he didn't even hesitate.

  • Scott's boss.  The guy is always willing to help us out.  He helped Scott install our home gym in the garage, he built us a box to use when working out, and he came over at 6:30am to help Scott load a piece of furniture in the back of my SUV.

  • Living close enough to family that we get to spend time with them on all the major holidays.

  • Friends who work at the bank.  We had a little banking fiasco this week and being able to talk to someone you know always makes things a little easier when trying to get the problem fixed.

  • My health.  I have never had any major health problems and I am soo thankful for that.

  • Time off during the holidays.  I am soo fortunate to have a job that gives us a 4 day weekend at Thanksgiving and pretty much 2 full weeks at Christmas.

  • Food and Water.  I have been fortunate enough to never have to worry about clean drinking water or where my next meal will come from.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Thankful Thursday

This week I am Thankful for....

  • That I have a college degree.  Growing up I didn't know going to college was a choice.  It was something my parents instilled in my to make sure I was able to get a good job and support myself if needed.
  • That I am getting a raise.  Working for a school district has it's perks.  When the teacher's union negotiates a raise, 9 times out a 10 all staff gets a raise.  And it's just in time for Christmas.
  • My dog, Oliver.  He always makes me feel better when I have had a bad day and he loves to cuddle.
  • For a good nights sleep.  I was up all Tuesday night with terrible back pain and after dragging out the body pillow and a few rounds with a heating pad, I feel good as new.
  • To work with people who are also my friends.  My group consists of less than 10 people and we all get a long so well.
  • Good health insurance.  While my health insurance didn't cover infertility treatments, it does a pretty good job of covering all the major stuff.
  • Social Media.  It gives me an easy way to keep up with friends and what is going on in the world.  And if someone shares to much you always just hide them.

Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for......

  •  My right to vote.

  • The election being over.  Hopefully the political status updates on Facebook will some to an end soon.

  • My job.  While I may not always love my job, I glad that I have a good job with great benefits.  It's hard to believe I just celebrated 6 years here.

  • My love of budgeting.  My parents taught me the value of a dollar early in life and luckily it has stuck with me.

  • My extended family.  I am so fortunate to have great family.

  • My home.

  • My vehicle.

Thankful Thursday

It's Thanksgiving day and I am reminded over and over around the holidays that I really do have a lot to be thankful for.

This week I am thankful.....
  1. for Answered Prayers
  2. for our dog Oliver.  No matter what he is always happy to see me when I walk in the door and he can always make a bad day a little bit better.
  3. for our awesome church family @ Argenta UMC.
  4. for the ability to read.  I love to read books and can't imagine what life would be like I grew up in a world where I was not taught to read.
  5. that I always have plenty to eat and never having to worry where my next meal will come from.
  6. that Scott decided almost 2 years ago to get healthy and has stuck with it. I am soo proud of him.
  7. that our families live close enough that we get to spend the holidays with all of them.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Thankful Thursday

As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, there are soo many things to be Thankful for.

I am Thankful for......
  1. my job.  With the economy the way it has been, I have so glad to have a stable job.
  2. Christmas break.  I have been very spoiled since starting to work for a school district.  I am not a teacher, so I don't get summers off, but I do get 2 weeks at Christmas which is AWESOME.
  3. my house and my car.  These are things I often take for granted and I know that I shouldn't.
  4. my journey through infertility.  While most days I hate it and have every emotion imaginable, I know it has brought me closer to God.
  5. all of those serving in the military and who fight for our country so that we can live in the Land of the Free.
  6. technology.  I don't know where I would be without my computer and more importantly my iPhone (which is back to working normally after the mishap a couple of weeks ago).
  7. K-LOVE.  I have become a HUGE fan on christian radio lately and I love that this station is nationwide so I can hear them no matter where I am.
Happy Thursday!  I can't believe it's only a week until Thanksgiving.

    1. that I have a husband that loves the good and the bad about me
    2. awesome parents
    3. learning to manage money at an early age
    4. running.  Even though I am probably going to trade it in for Crossfit in about a month, it is a GREAT stress reliever.
    5. God listening to me even when I am mad and complaining.
    6. Jesus giving his life so that we can all have Eternal Life.

    Thankful Thursday

November is off to a rough start, but there are still plenty of things to be thankful for.  In honor of Thanksgiving I want to make note of the many things I am thankful for.

    I am thankful......
    1. that my ankle is not broken after I rolled in while running on Tuesday.
    2. that the only thing currently wrong with my cell phone is that the home button doesn't work after it had a little accident a couple of days ago.
    3. that God gives me Grace even when I don't deserve it.
I plan on making this a weekly post through the end of November.

    Thanksgiving

We headed to Springdale last Tuesday to spend Thanksgiving at Scott's sister's house. Since they have a new baby, we decided to have Thanksgiving at their house. So we packed up what seemed like our entire kitchen and headed out. On Monday, I had told one of my coworkers that I thought I was getting sick and when I woke up Tuesday morning I knew it was true. As each day went by, the worse I felt and the more I couldn't breathe when I woke up each morning. Here I am a week later, and I'm still not back to 100%.

I got talked into making homemade rolls and cinnamon rolls for Thanksgiving. I had it all planned out. Make the dough on Tuesday, roll out the dough on Wednesday, and cook the food on Thursday. Of course, this didn't exactly work out as planned. When I went to roll out the dough at 3pm on Wednesday, I realized that it didn't get mixed up well enough and it was ruined. So at 4pm on Wednesday I made another batch of dough and rolled out the cinnamon rolls and rolls at 11:30 pm. I was exhausted, but they turned out AWESOME if I do say so myself!

All in all Thanksgiving dinner was GREAT!!!

We came home on Friday so Scott could watch football and my parents came down and spent the night. Mom and I did a little shopping, but didn't buy much. Saturday was spent relaxing and watching the Hogs beat LSU. Scott is dying to go to the Sugar Bowl is the Hogs go...guess we will wait and see.....

    Psalm 88 and Being Thankful

We are currently going through a Sermon Series @ Church called "Speaking of God." Last Sunday the scripture was Psalm 88 and we talked about how we behave or things we might say to God when he doesn't behave like we expect. I have to to say that I have used a variety of things to express my anger, sadness, frustrations, etc in these situations. I wish I could say that I never get angry at God and that I always so..."OK God, I know you know what you are doing. I trust you completely," but that is not always the case. Some of the following are the ones the come to mind most often.

    "WHY?"
    "Are you kidding me?"
    "Why Me?"
    "Are you listening??"
    "What were you thinking?"
"I can't believe you let that happen!"
"I don't think I can handle any more!"
"I trust you know what you are doing"

I'm sure there are a lot more. I know that God will never give me more than I can handle. I have to remind myself of that a lot, but I know deep down He is always looking out for me. I believe that God has been trying to teach me to be patient my entire life. I don't know if I am getting any better at it.

I try to also be quick to THANK God when things do go as expected or when things turn out better than anticipated.

I have seen a lot of people of facebook postings things that are thankful for this month. Thanksgiving is just 3 weeks away. I have lots to be thankful for...here are just a few
