37 Weeks

  • Carter is officially considered full term.  According to my app, he is roughly the size of a watermelon and weighs around 6.5 lbs.
  • I am down 3.4 lbs this week for a total weight gain of 24.4 lbs.  As I said last week, sometimes I feel like I have no control over what my weight does.  Although I think our eating habits were slightly better this week.
  • Last Friday I started having braxton hicks contractions.  I ended up going home early and as the night went on the pain became constant.  I work up just after midnight and the pain was bad enough I could barely stand.  After a quick call of the 24 hour line at the hospital, I woke Scott up and we headed up to triage.  It turned out I was having come contractions, but I was also having muscle spasms.  Luckily they were able to give me a muscle relaxer which worked wonders.  Unfortunately, we were there 3 hours and didn't get home until 4:30am Saturday morning.  They checked me while at the triage clinic and I have dilated to 1.
  • After our trip to the hospital, I decided it was time to get serious about getting a bag packed for the hospital.  Carter's bag is now packed and mine is mostly packed.  About the only things missing are the things I use every day, like my make-up, hair brush, etc.
  • Exercise has better this week.  I actually went for a walk 4 days.  The weather has been hit and miss but I have forced myself to get outside for bit.
  • I went back to the doctor today and I am dilated to a 2 almost a 3 and am 75% effaced.  She doubts I make it 2 more weeks, but anything can happen.  Carter's heartbeat is till really good, but he has dropped.  I better get to putting the car seat in the car!!!

36 Weeks

  • This past week we had our final baby shower.  We only spent time returning a few things we received duplicates of and buying a few things we still needed.  We still have a few more things we need to get, but the weather has been yucky here this week which makes me not motivated to get out and finish it up.
  • I took off on Monday so that I could recoup from the weekend of traveling and to attempt to straighten up Carter's room.  It looked like a hurricane had hit.
  • I am getting to the point where it isn't very comfortable to ride in a car for long periods of time.  Luckily this past weekend was our last out of town trip before Carter gets here.
  • Exercise has been almost non-existent this past week.  Between a busy schedule, being out of town, and the yucky weather, I haven't had much time to get outside and walk.
  • I am up 5.0 lbs for a total of 27.8 lbs.  This rapid weight gain here at the end is not really sitting well with me.  I know I am still well within my target weight gain, but some weeks it seems like the pounds just pile on no matter how well you eat or how much or how little you exercise.
  • I have started thinking about packing a hospital bag, but I haven't actually done much about yet.
  • Carter still moves around a lot, but I can tell he is running out of room.

Hometown Baby Shower

This past weekend Scott and I went home to NE AR for our last baby shower.  I was completely overwhelmed by the number of people who showed up and/or sent gifts.  I haven't lived there almost 10 years, but long time family friends came to help us celebrate.  That is one of the great perks of being from a small town.

Scott even got talked into attending this shower and he helped open gifts.

Reagan, Cassidy, me, and Kristi (a mini high school reunion)
It was soo nice to see people I have not seen in years.  I keep up with most people through Face.book, but it was soo fun seeing them in person.

Unfortunately, my camera was messing up and I didn't get a lot of pictures.  Thankfully someone else had a camera and is going to send me most pictures.  We are soo thankful to have soo many people in our life who are excited about this precious baby.  I can't wait for Carter to make his arrival.

35 Weeks

  • According to my app, Carter is the size of a large cantaloupe and is weighing around 5.5 lbs.  While every baby is different, I think this is pretty close.  I can tell he has pretty much ran out of room because I can feel elbows or knees or possibly even a heel every time he rolls around.
  • I am up 2.8 lbs for a total of 22.8 lbs.  I often wonder how the amount I gain each week fluctuates the way it does.  I continue to eat around the same stuff and continue to exercise around the same amount.  One week I barely gain any weight and the next weeks its almost 3 lbs!!  I am well within my target weight gain so no complaints, but I am totally puzzled by this.
  • Carter is still moving around like crazy and at times he seems to be wadding up in a ball.
  • My sinuses are a mess.  Half the time I can only breathe out of one side of my nose and this always seems to happen at night which results in my sleeping with my mouth open which apparently results in snoring and a sore throat the next morning.
  • Only 35 days to go!  How is this possible?!?!  I am gotten to the point of extreme excitement and I am very anxious for Carter's arrival.  I am trying to just enjoy these last few weeks and ensure we have everything we need.
  • I had a doctors appointment today and Carter's heartbeat was good and strong.  It was in the 140's.  My blood pressure was low.  They took it twice and finally got it to 119/52.  I felt good so they weren't extremely worried about it being low.
Happy Valentine's Day!

Work Baby Shower

Last Friday my wonderful coworkers helped us celebrate Carter's upcoming arrival with a baby shower.  I was overwhelmed by the turnout.  Once again we received lots of much needed items and lots of gift cards to help us buy the rest of the necessities.  I am soo thankful to work with such a great group of people.  It was so nice of each and every person who attended to take time out of their busy schedule to help us celebrate.  This is just another reason I love my job and the people I work with.

I think someone might be a little jealous.

34 Weeks

  • I am up 0.8 lbs for a total of 20 lbs.
  • Carter is roughly the size of a pineapple and I believe it.  I feel like he is running out of room.  Every move he makes feels like punch or a jab, but I love to feel him move so I don't mind.
  • We had our 2nd baby shower this past weekend and received lots of good stuff.
  • I am still exercising as much as I can.  This is my last week for yoga though.  My doctors appointments and the yoga class are both on Thursdays and so I can only go to yoga on weeks that I don't have a doctors appointment.  It's crazy to think we are about to be to weekly doctors appointments before long.
  • Sleep is still pretty good.  Some nights it takes me a while to go back to sleep when I wake up in the middle of the night, but most of the time I am back to sleep within a few minutes.
  • My belly button is still an "innie," but just barely.  I keep waiting for it to pop out any day now.
  • I toured the day care on Tuesday and found out for sure it shouldn't be a problem for Carter to get in when he is born.  We have been on the waiting list since I was 12 weeks, so I was hoping and praying there were no issues.  I really didn't have a backup plan.

Baby Shower #2

Last Saturday morning, we had another great baby shower for Carter.  Carter's room is mostly red, white, and black so they decided to keep the shower colors the same and add a little firetruck theme to the shower.
The yummy sweets
Close up of the cake.  It was soo cute I didn't want to cut into it.  The cake was chocolate and was sooo yummy!
White cupcakes with butter cream icing.
All of the other food.  They did a great job.  All of the food was delicious.
They hung a bunch of monogrammed onesies with Carters name or initials on them.
Instead of a guestbook, everyone signed a mat that I can hang in his room.  They also left little notes on diapers.
The wonderful hostesses.  L to R - Christy, Shannon, Julie, me, Audra, Lauren, Darla

College Roommate Reunion

Below are some picture of all of the goodies we got at the shower.  I am overwhelmed by all of the awesome things we received.  Many were things we needed and others were fun things I would have never thought of getting.

I am soo thankful for everyone who came to the shower to share this special time for us.  The hostesses did a great job and I could not have asked for a better shower.  Everything was perfect.  Even the weather cooperated and it was around 60 degrees which is rare for February.
