It's a Girl!

My sister-in-law found out this week that she is having a GIRL!! YEA!!! Baby girl Kimbrough will be here around October 24th. I need this girl to wait until after October 15th to make her appearance so I can take off work and be there for her arrival. After the 15th she is free to come whenever she wants.

Congrats to Lauren, Scott, and Stella (the Doodle)!!!

Wedding Season

Wedding Season has officially begun. I couldn't believe all the posts I've seen on facebook lately about people celebrating their wedding anniversary this month. Luckily we only have a couple of wedding coming up this summer.

After Dino Dash, I made a quick trip home last weekend to attend my cousin's wedding. The weather turned out perfect for an outdoor wedding. Here are a couple of pics.

Mom, Dad, and I before we left for the wedding. We had no one to take the picture so we took it of ourselves.

My twin cousins (can you believe they are twins? They look nothing a like). The one of the left (Josh) was getting married.

Dino Dash 5K

Saturday morning was the 11th Annual Dino Dash 5K to benefit the Museum of Discovery.
Scott and I both participated. It was Scott's first 5K and he finished in 34 minutes and 48 seconds. I was so proud of him!

Below is a group picture from Saturday. Our church had a team in the Race.

Charitable Giving

I stumbled across a blog a few weeks ago and was inspired by the goal this blogger had set for herself to give to various charities on a weekly basis for a year. I have always given money here and there to charities, but never on such a consistent basis. I decided to start small and make a point to donate to at least one charity a month. Once I started thinking about it, I realized I was already on my way.

In April, I donated to a March of Dimes team "Avery's Aviators." This team was started by a family that attends our church. Their daughter was born 12 weeks early and they are raising money to help raise awareness about premature birth. Avery's Aviators raised more money than any other team in Arkansas to date. If you would like to donate, you can still do see by going to the team page.

In May, we donated to the UCA Wesley Foundation. I had received an email from someone we used to go to church with and who is very involved in the ministry. He was asking for donations for an upcoming bike ride to support the Foundation. Below is a portion of the email he sent out and a link to donate.

"The Wesley Foundation at UCA is an on campus ministry of the United Methodist Church that reaches teens where they are and provides fellowship, worship, ministry, and mission opportunities for college students both locally and globally. As Vice Chair for this organization I’ve seen what this ministry is doing in the lives of these local kids going to school at UCA and I’m excited and honored to be taking part in a bike ride to raise money for this ministry. They have lunches every Monday, church services every Thursday night and they are actively participating in doing the work of Jesus Christ in the mission field, like the trip a group of 15 will be taking to Peru in about two weeks. They also have a wonderful praise band made up of dedicated Christian youth using their musical talent to praise our Lord & Savior.

Go to www.wesleyfoundation.net and donate using paypal after you register. On the website select Giving and then click on register in the tip right corner. Once registered select the description "Tour de Oink" Cycling Team and then include the amount and then select Donate."

Even if I don't give much each month, I have decided that every little bit counts. In months when an opportunity is not presented to me like the 2 above, I am going to attempt to find a local cause to support.

Happy Mother's Day

I may be a little partial, but I think I have the best mother ever. She is not only a mother, but also a best friend. I am also blessed to have a great mother-in-law.

I spent the weekend with my parents going through several trunks of my books from my younger years and making delicious Ding Dong Cupcakes (I will post the recipe later). Scott spent part of the weekend visiting his parents and sister and brother-in-law at the lake.

This picture is from Mother's Day 2009. I realized after I got home that we didn't take any pictures this year.

Happy Mother's Day Mom, Vickie, and soon-to-be-mom sister-in-law Lauren!!!

Hello Blogging World!

Well I have been thinking about starting a blog for some time now and just never got around to it. I love reading other blogs and thought it was finally time to jump on the bandwagon.

I guess I will start by telling a little about me....

Scott and I got married on August 9, 2003 and we have moved 6 times. I was beginning to think we were professionals. We lived in Jonesboro for the about the 1st year and a half we were married. We started out in an apartment and ended up in a house. Below is picture of our first house.

Then spent the next 4 years in Conway, 3 of which were in this house.

We finally moved into the house be built in Sherwood last fall, but only after we spent the greater part of last year in an apartment (or CRAPartment as I called it).

We have a Yorkie named Oliver and I treat him like he is a kid most of the time.

I guess that is all for now.....
