Whirlwind Month

I know September was going to be a VERY busy month, but I didn't realize the effect all this traveling would have on me.

• Labor day weekend started with a trip to Fayetteville on Saturday to watch the Hogs play.  We rode up with our friends Kevin and Darla and came back to LR after the game.  We didn't get home until about 12:30am, but the Hogs won (this may have been their only win all season).  We got up Sunday morning and drove to the lake to hang out with Scott's family.  By the time we got home on Monday I was exhausted from soo many hours in the car.
• The 2nd weekend in September we headed to Jonesboro to visit my parents, see a few friends, and catch an ASU football game.  The weather was great for football.
• The weekend of the 14th it was back to Fayetteville on Friday afternoon to watch the Hogs take on #1 Alabama.  The weather was nasty and rainy, but we set through 3 quarters of the game even though it was a beat down.  Luckily it was an afternoon game so after it was over we headed back to LR.  
• On Saturday while we were in Fayetteville, my dads brother passed away unexpectedly.  So on Monday afternoon Scott and I headed back to Jonesboro for the visitation and funeral.
• Last weekend Scott and I made another day trip to Fayetteville to watch the Hogs again.  The weather was perfect for tailgating and the game.  This should have been a fairly easy win for the Razorbacks but the played terrible and lost.  We left at the end of the 3rd QTR and decided to head on back to LR. 
• After all the traveling, I am excited to stay in LR this weekend.  We have some friends getting married on Saturday night, but the wedding is in town.  

I am soo ready to be able to take a couple of days off work to just relax and catch up on a few things around the house that have been neglected lately.  This is our busiest time of year at work, so those days off will have to wait a few more weeks. 

Catching up.....

• Scott and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on August 9th.  I can't believe how fast time has flown.  We kept is low key since it was a week night and grilled steaks and had homemade sweet potato fries.


• We haven't had a whole lot going on in August and we are trying to enjoy it.  July was action packed every weekend and so it has been a nice break this month.  It will be short lived b/c we have something planned EVERY weekend in September.


• Speaking of September and the fact that football season is right around the corner, look what we got last week!!  Our season tickets!  This is the 1st year and probably that only year for a long time we will every splurge on season tickets, but we are VERY excited.



•  Arkansas Public Schools started back yesterday which means busy times ahead for the next couple of months at work.  


• August has been unusually mild in Arkansas this year and it is making my anxious for fall.  It has been in the 60's here the past few mornings when I have gotten up.


• I have have a REAL post I am working on and will hopefully get it posted in the next couple of weeks. 

The Good, The Bad, The Hogs

After a whirlwind 10 days, Petrino was fired as the Razorback football coach last night.  I am not going to go into the details of everything that has come to light over the past week and a half, but anyone who remotely keeps up with college sports has probably heard about the whole ordeal.  If have no clue what I am referring to them just google "petrino motorcycle accident" and you can find all the crazy details.

We watched the entire press conference last night even thought the news had already broke that he was gone.  AD Jeff Long handled himself very well and it was sad to see him get emotional when talking about the players and the staff that have been affected by this.  No doubt Jeff Long made the right decision in firing him, especially after hearing more details come out regarding the situation late night.  I can only imagine how hard this was on Long, as he was the one who hired Petrino in the first place.  

It is sad that Petrino thought so highly of himself that he thought he could do whatever he wanted and their would not be any consequences.  I personally am still in shock that he lied over and over again when presented with the chance to come clean.  It was only when the police report became public that he finally decided to tell the truth.  I guess I shouldn't be surprised.  I mean I am talking about the man also known as BMFP.  I am sure more details about his inappropriate relationship will continue to come out over time.

Bobby Petrino was a good coach.  That's undeniable.  Look what he has done for Razorback football.  He, however, it not that great of a man.

Scott and I were REALLY looking forward to what looked to be a AWESOME year in Razorback football.  We even bought season tickets for the 1st time ever this year.  With the coaching situation in limbo, part of me wishes I could get my money back.  Hopefully the team and staff will rally behind whatever coaching decision the university makes for the 2012 season.  This could still make for a pretty good football season. 

In the words of my husband....."The team is built to win."  I only hope they can get a coach, whether it is Interim or Full-Time that will help them do just that.  

In the end U of A chose morals OVER popularity and the goes a long way in my book.

#3 Razorbacks

I can't believe the Razorbacks are ranked #3 in the nation and they have a shot at playing in the National Championship game.  Scott is soo excited about this that he can barely contain himself.  I'm soo glad I had the opportunity to actually go to a couple of games in Fayetteville this year.  They played their last home game in Little Rock Saturday.  We didn't actually go in the game, but we went to tailgate and enjoy the atmosphere. 

On another note, it's been a sad few days for Razorback fans.  After playing in Saturday's game, Garrett Uekman, a redshirt freshman, died Sunday morning.  He was 19.  Not a lot of details have been released about his death.  The details that have currently been released can be found here.  My thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Garrett Uekman.

Razorback Football

This year I have already gone to 2 Razorback football games.  That is more that I have been to in the past 5 years combined.  About a month ago, we were lucky enough to get to go to the Troy game on the Bud bus.  Some of our friends won it at a silent auction and invited us to come along.  It was awesome.  Instead of having to worry about getting to Fayetteville, parking, and getting home, we go to enjoy the ride up there each lots of food, hang out on the bus before the game (since it was raining) and then we had a driver on the way back when we were worn out and really wouldn't have wanted to drive anyway.  Below are a few pics of our awesome ride.

The 2nd game of the year that we went to was the Auburn game.  We were lucky enough to score some friends extra season tickets so not only did we have great seats, but we got to sit with people we knew.  Our seats were right beside the student section and WOW they were fired up.  It was an awesome game.

I'm soo glad the Hogs are off to a great start this year!  Hopefully we will make it to at least one more game this season.  For now...Happy Friday....Go Hogs!  Beat Ole Miss!
