Father's Day

I have to say I think I have one of the best dad's ever!! I spent Father's day weekend home with my parents. My parent's are in the middle of remodeling their house and I think I got him the best present ever.....FREE MANUAL LABOR! We power washed the house, sanded and painted window boxes and cleaned/rearranged part of the stuff in the back yard. We took no pictures, but here is one from Christmas. I LOVE YOU DADDY!!!

Our Not Very Romantic Proposal Story

It's Show Us Your Life - Proposal Stories over at Kelly's Korner and I thought I would participate. Scott and I got engaged on July 18, 2002 and I never saw it coming.

Scott and I had been dating for almost a 1 1/2 years. My birthday is on July 14th and I had just turned 21. I had asked him for a gift card for my birthday and we had gone to Tunica to the casino to ring in the big 21.

Scott had gone to Memphis to get my Victoria's Secret gift card and I had no clue that he had taken my roommate, Audra, with him to pick out the ring. Audra gives Scott all the credit in picking out the ring. (He did a great job!!) This all happened somewhere around July 11th.

The next Thursday he had a job interview in Little Rock and little did i know that he drove to Memphis after the interview to pick up the ring. On Friday night we went out to eat with his sister @ Jerry's (which to me is a pretty redneck place). Afterwards, we were going over to someones house to hang out and have a low key night. We stopped by his parents house, let his sister out and ran in to use the bathroom. I went upstairs to see what was taking him so long (and now I know I almost caught him red handed getting the ring out of the drawer). I sat down on his bed and he came over and said something like "I think I deserve kisses" (this is what I always say to him when I want a kiss). I kept saying "No, I don't think you do. You haven't done anything to deserve them." I have no idea what he said next, but the next thing I know he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I think I said something like "For real? Is this thing real? You promise??" I eventually realized he wasn't kidding and said YES!!! Being only a week after my birthday, I had no idea it was going to happen. We had talked about marriage, but never a time frame. I still had a year of school left. There were no pictures taken, as I was totally unprepared for anything of this caliber to happen.

We were married on August 9, 2003 and will be celebrating 7 years this year!! It's amazing how time flies!

China Patterns - Cameo Platinum

It's Show Us Your Life - China Pattens at Kelly's Korner, so I thought I would share our China Pattern. At first I didn't think I wanted to register for China, but I finally decided I would. I wanted something simple that I wouldn't get tired of after 2-3 years and something that wasn't very expensive, so I picked Mikasa Cameo Platinum. I love it! We were fortunate to get 10 place settings and all of the serving pieces for our wedding. We don't use it much, usually just on Thanksgiving and our Anniversary, but it's almost 7 years later and I don't regret my choice. As it turns out, many of my friends have the same pattern or a very similar pattern. We also have the same or very similar stemware.

Our stemware is Mikasa Jamestown Platinum.

Have a great weekend!
