33 Weeks

  • According to my app, Carter is around 4 lbs and about the size of a honeydew.
  • I am up 0.4 lbs for a total of 19.2 lbs.
  • Overall, I am still feeling really good.  I have been trying to exercise as much as possible.  Some weeks I am better at this than other weeks.
  • My belly button is still an "innie," but it's almost to the point where it is non-existent which freaks me out a little.
  • I went back to the doctor today and everything is still looking good.  His heartbeat was still at a good rate and he was moving around like crazy.
  • Lately, I have felt Carter move all day and even during the night when I wake up.  Fortunately, his movements aren't waking me up in the middle of the night.
  • Sleep is still good.  I am starting to get occasional insomnia.
  • I still haven't craved any foods out of the ordinary.  I am a big fan of pizza and hamburgers, but I try not to over indulge.
  • We go back to the doctor in 2 weeks.

Weekend Wrap-Up

This past weekend was my mom's birthday.  She turned the BIG 6-0 so Scott and I headed to NE Arkansas Friday after work to celebrate.  Friday night we met my parents and my mom's boss's 5 year old daughter for dinner at Upper Crust Pizza.  This is one of my favorite pizza places at home.  Dinner was full of excitement with a 5 year old whom I have not seen in a long time.  She entertained us all very well during dinner and afterwards when we ran a couple of other errands.

Saturday was my mom's actual birthday.  We headed out around 10:30.  My parents ran by and got their hair cut and washed while Scott and I made a quick trip to Hobby Lobby.  We had lunch at another local spot in Jonesboro that has the best cheeseburger I think I have ever eaten.   I also ran into a friend who I had not seen in years.

After lunch we decided to do a little shopping.  We stopped by a local shop that sells a little bit of everything...razorback stuff, home decor stuff, and baby stuff.  We picked up a baby book for Carter and what is hopefully our last piece of wall art for Carter's room.  After that we decided to run by a couple of furniture stores.  Scott and I have been on the hunt for new barstools for a couple of months.  We knew exactly what we wanted, but couldn't seem to find them anywhere.  We walked into a furniture store and there they were right by the store.  Fortunately they have them in counter height also which is what we needed.  She called their other store that was 45 minutes away and they had 3 left that were not already sold.   We bought them without hesitation.  My mom also found a really nice zebra print storage ottoman to use in front of her couch.

We ate lunch with my parents Sunday then headed back to LR.  We barely made it home and got the car unloaded until it was time for me to leave again.  We had a baby shower for a church member before church Sunday night, so I had to be there early.

I ended up taking off work on Monday because I have had a nagging sore throat for 2 days.  Luckily, I think I am finally over it.  I had my mom put our old barstools on a FB yard sale page and she sold them in about an hour.  Hopefully the person won't back out by the time my mom picks them up this weekend.

Looks like we are in for a stormy afternoon/night here.  Hopefully it won't start until after I get home.

32 Weeks

  • I am 80% of the way through this pregnancy.  WOW!
  • I am up 1.4 lbs this week for a total of 18.8 lbs.
  • I had my first baby shower this past Sunday and received lots of goodies for Carter.
  • My mother-in-law brought the bedding and the curtains that we had made this past weekend and my mom brought the rug we bought.  It is really starting to look like a nusery.
  • Scott and I bought some wall art and are in the process of getting the pictures framed and hung.
  • We took a tour of the Labor and Delivery unit so that we would know exactly where to go and what to expect when Carter makes his arrival.

Church Baby Shower

On Sunday afternoon we had our 1st baby shower for Carter.  It was thrown by our church.

Fabulous cupcakes made by one of my friends

My mom, me, and Vickie (my mother-in-law)

Some of the gifts...have you ever seen a box of wipes that big?

More goodies
The Diaper Bag
It was soo nice of the girls from church to put this shower together for us.  We received some really great stuff and it is finally starting to feel like Carter's arrival is just around the corner.  There were so many days when I wondered if I would ever be the guest of honor at a baby shower and I can't believe that day is finally here.

31 Weeks

  • I am in total awe that I have made it this far.  I can't believe we are over 75% of the way through this pregnancy.
  • On Monday, I pre-registered for delivery with the hospital.  Just another example that this kid will be here soon!
  • I am up 1.4 lbs for a total of 17.4 lbs.
  • Although I haven't had an ultrasound in a while, my phone app says Carter is about the size of a head of lettuce.  (18 in, 3.2 lbs)  I'm not sure how close to exact this is, but I can definitely tell he is getting bigger.  Every time he moves around these days, his little kicks pack more punch.  I think that is also why I feel him more often during the day.
  • I went to the doctor and everything is still looking good.  His heartbeat was good and strong and he kept kicking back when she would push down on my stomach.
  • I am now on an every other week schedule.  Wow!  How are we already to this point.

15 Years Ago.....

In January 1998, I was your average 16 year old.  I was a junior in high school and I'm not gonna lie, I believed I was invincible.  All of that changed 15 years ago today.  When I went to bed on January 14, 1998 I had no idea that my world would get completely turned upside down in a few short hours.

Let me start from the day before...

Wednesday, January 14th - A normal school day like any other.  I stayed after school for basketball practice and then went to Disciple class with my parents that night.  My best friend, Kate, was headed to Jonesboro after school and any other day I would have been going with her, but there was no way my parents were letting me miss disciple class, so unable to find anyone to go with her, she went alone.  At some point during the class, I get a page from Kate's dad.  I called him back when I got home and he was wondering if I was with Kate.  I told him that I wasn't and didn't think twice about it.  I'm sure she was just running late or not answering her phone....nothing to worry about.

Thursday, January 15th - Sometime between midnight and around 2am, my parents woke me to tell me to get dressed we were going to the hospital.  Kate had been in a car wreck.  I knew it was bad, but not how bad.  I remember thinking all the way to the hospital about what I was going to say to her.  I had planned on giving her a hard time.  When I actually got to see her, all those thoughts vanished.  Her condition was way worse than I ever imagined.  Seeing your best friend hooked up with all those tubes, is something no teenager should ever have to see.  We stayed for a while and at some point that afternoon, my parents finally took me home.  I think deep down I knew what was about to happen, but I really didn't want to think about it.  Later that day all of the tubes were unhooked and Kate passed away.  She had turned 16 only 6 days earlier.

15 years ago today I lost my best friend.  She still crosses my mind almost every day.  I am not sure why God cut her life so short, but I know she is in a better place.  I still miss my friend.

30 weeks

  • On Monday I made my 1st and hopefully last visit to the triage clinic.  Turns out it was a UTI, but the small amount of bleeding was enough to scare the crap out of me.  They hooked me up and I spent a couple hours listening to Carter's heartbeat and to him wiggle around.  Not really the way I wanted to start my work week, but very thankful all I needed was some antibiotic to clear it up.
  • Ever since our little trip to triage, Carter has been moving like crazy during the day.  I guess he is trying to tell me not to worry and that he is OK.  I am actually starting to see my stomach move when he starts moving around.
  • I've still been trying to get as much exercise in as possible.  The weather finally warmed up a little so it hasn't been as bad walking outside lately.  After taking a 3 week break during the holidays, I started back to yoga class also.
  • I am up 1.4 lbs this week for a total of 16 lbs.
  • I am trying to eat healthier again now that the holidays are over.
  • I have noticed this week that I am tired more than usual.  I am still sleeping good at night, but about mid-day I really start to need a caffeine pick me up.

29 Weeks

  • Not much has been going on this week.  Things are still going good and overall I feel pretty good.
  • After taking a week off from exercising due to the snow and freezing temperatures, I started back this week.
  • I got my 1st ever prenatal massage.  It was fabulous and it was just what I needed before starting back to work from Christmas break.
  • I am up 0.2 lbs this week for a total of 14.6 lbs.  It amazes me how some weeks there are big jumps in weight gain and others there is hardly any.  After eating like crap over Christmas break, we are trying to get back on track.
  • Carter has had the hiccups a lot lately.  At 1st I wasn't 100% sure that's what is was, but after consulting the world wide web, I'm almost positive that is what I have been feeling.
  • He is still moving around like crazy.  I feel him most in the morning and at night.  I have woken up a few times in the middle of the night lately and felt him rolling around.
  • I am still in awe that this kid is mine and he will be here in 11 weeks or less.  I thank God every night for this miracle and I hope to not take any of this for granted.

2012 In Review

As I reflect back at 2012, I have to say overall it was a pretty good year.  It had it's ups and downs, but it was by far not the worst year ever (that year was a couple of years ago).  Below are some of the highs and lows of 2012.
  • Countless visits to the fertility clinic and giving myself shots in the stomach which resulted in 2 failed IUIs
  • My first concert in years - Zac Brown Band - with great friends
  • My 1st ever trip to New Orleans
  • Scott's grandpa passed away
  • Finding out one of my best friends had a miscarriage
  • Getting a second opinion on all this infertility mess
  • Having laproscopic surgery and having tons of endometriosis removed
  • A week long trip to the beach
  • Finding out I was pregnant
  • Finding out my sister-in-law and a handful of my friends were pregnant
  • Finding out we were having a BOY!
  • Buying Season tickets to the Razorback games and then Petrino gets fired a week later and the entire season turns out to be terrible.
  • My nephew being born a week before Christmas and while he was early, he was healthy.
  • Record snow falling in Central Arkansas starting on Christmas day.  It knocked out power to many for several days.  Luckily we did not loose power.
Happy 2013!  I can't wait to see what God has in store for us this year!
