Today is SUYL - Tell Us About your Church over at
Kelly's Korner. I absolutely LOVE my church so I thought I would share. Scott and I attend
Argenta United Methodist Church in downtown (The Argenta District) of North Little Rock. We are a new church and have only been around for about 3 years.
When Scott and I moved to Conway in 2005, we attended church pretty regularly, but never really felt like it was the right place for us. In 2007, a friend of mine (who also happened to be my college roommate's fiance) graduated from Seminary and was appointed as associate pastor in North Little Rock. His goal was to be part of a new church start. Long story short....about a year later Argenta United Methodist Church was born. We meet on Sunday nights @ 5:30 in the Argenta Community Theater. We have only been in our new space for about 2 months. We were meeting in the Starving Artist Cafe until the Argenta Community Theater was finished. We decided to meet at night because a lot of the members were in their 20's and went home or traveled a lot on the weekends. Meeting a night made it possible for all of us to still travel and have a "home" church that we attended regularly and could get involved in.
Scott and I both love this church. It is a great place to worship. No one cares how old your are, where you come from, or what you wear. We have recently started a children's ministry that is going great. There are many other ways you can get involved in our church.....anything from helping set up/clean up, handing out bulletins, helping with the children's ministry, playing on the churches basketball team, participating in a book discussion, volunteering in a community outreach project.
