April Showers Bring May Flowers....or do they?

I am soooo tired of rain.  I would gladly like to give all this rain to the people in Texas who are experiencing a drought.  It has stormed here on and off for the past 3 weeks.  It seemed like at least once a week the tornado sirens were going off.  I thought we had finally made it through all the April showers.  Apparently April wanted to go out with a bang and welcome May the same way.  It started raining on Saturday night and I don't know that it stopped until Tuesday morning.  Making a 3 hour drive home Sunday morning in pouring down rain was NOT fun. 
Now we live on a lake and in December 2009 it rained non-stop for a couple of days and the water got pretty high in our yard....well that was nothing compared to this past weekend.  They have shut down several schools and even many parts of the interstate just north of our exit.  Below are some pictures of our yard.

This is right after I got home on Sunday, before the 2nd round of rain started.  You can tell the water was trying to recede a little.  Notice you can still see the floor of the neighbors dock.

Look how close the water got to our neighbors house.  If it weren't for our pool, it would have been that close to our house also.  The water was at least 3/4 of the way up the retaining wall.

The good news is the water is going down quickly.  It is almost completely out of yard and the floor of the neighbors dock is visible again.  The forecast calls for lots of sun shine for the next week.  Guess that means we will be cleaning up the yard this weekend.
